Style and functionality in one piece of furniture: Murphy Beds

Murphy Beds
Let's start from the beginning.
The wonderful Murphy Bed is named after William Lawrence Murphy (1876–1957), an Irish immigrant in New York who wanted to find a creative method of making space in his small apartment, applying for his first patents around 1900.
Funny story behind why he came up with the idea for the first Murphy Bed. Legend has it that, William Lawrence Murphy was wooing an opera singer back then, but imagine living in a one-room apartment in San Francisco city and with the moral code of the time frowned upon a woman entering a man's bedroom alone, he had it very difficult. So he came up with a marvelous invention/solution: the Murphy Bed  converting his bedroom into a parlor, enabling him to entertain without being judged. And in modern days where space is such a precious thing we thank him for it.
